El rol de los datos abiertos para la transformación hacia una Sociedad 5.0

CONTEXT

As cities and societies move towards smarter and more human-centered models, a key question arises: what conditions must be met for open data to truly generate economic, social, technological, environmental, and innovative benefits, and contribute to a more inclusive and sustainable society.

WHAT WE DID?

We developed an international academic collaboration with data science specialists from universities in Greece and Tartu to analyze the role of open data in the transition towards a Society 5.0. The work explored the economic, innovative, social, and environmental benefits of open data; reviewed success cases of smart cities; and proposed understanding openness not only as a principle applicable to data, but also to research, education, software, standards, and hardware. Based on this, it raised the idea of an "open data-driven society" as a bridge between Society 4.0 and Society 5.0.

OUR SOLUTION

We collaborated in an applied research on open data, smart cities, and social transformation, connecting openness, technology, and public value.

KEY PARTNERS

WHAT WE ACHIEVED?

The work contributed to an international conversation on the structural role of openness in building smart, transparent, and human-centered societies, connecting open data with smart cities, smart living, and the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals.

WHAT WE LEARNED?
"Openness generates more value when it stops being understood as a sectoral policy and becomes a transversal philosophy for designing more human, smart, and sustainable societies."
